What do I do first?

Depending on how much funding you are applying for the application process will either be in two or three stages.  All you need to do at stage one is check you are in the geographical area covered by the programme, make sure your project idea aligns with one of the area’s priorities for funding, then complete a simple Project Ideas Form.  It’s as simple as that!

How much can I apply for?

As a guide the LAG will look to invest between £5,000 and £150,000 per venture and depending on the activity and size of business will look to contribute 20% - 60% towards overall project cost.

What support is available?

We have a dedicated Facilitator whose role it is to support and guide you through the process. They will determine whether your Project Idea meets our funding criteria, if it does they will then guide you through the application process.

What is the application process?

If you are requesting a grant of between £5,000 and £50,000 the Facilitator will ask you to complete a Small Grant Application Form. This will then be independently appraised before being taken to the Local Action Group for a final decision.

For larger projects seeking grants of over £50,000 the Facilitator will ask you for more information on your project idea before being presented as a ‘Concept’ confidentially to the Local Action Group. If the Local Action Group approves the Concept your project will move to the final stage, the Business Case. Once this happens we will provide you with further guidance and support in working through the next stage. Whilst no guarantees can be given, if your project is approved at Concept stage then, providing you present a sound Business Case, your project stands a good chance of approval.

For your project to be considered it should:

  • be located within the ‘Norfolk Coast & Broads’ LAG area
  • align with the priorities of the Local Development Strategy
  • be a new activity
  • be sustainable after grant funding has ceased
  • demonstrate wider business and/or community benefits through collaboration or sharing of best practice
  • ensure similar activities or businesses in your local area are not displaced by the grant funded activity
  • have a sound match-funding package in place, be it your own funds or borrowings
  • be submitted by a legally constituted group or organisation
  • contribute towards improving and protecting biodiversity, preserve local distinctiveness and take actions that make a positive environmental impact now and in the future
